Rumor of the year: Parise to Avs

If Parise indeed would agree to join us because he's friends with Johnson and Stastny, why can't he just sign with us on July 1st?
That way we would keep our picks (and potential future teammates of Parise) which would only benefit him aswell.
Would love to have Parise on this team for that deal though.

because other team can acquire his rights before july 1st the same way and convince him to sign before we would be able to send official offer his way... it is not that he wants to sign with the Avs and nobody else, it´s just that he wouldn´t mind signing with us...
anyway, i will keep my hopes low until something is officialy announced

Good point Ivo.
Maybe the Avs managment wants to be sure they will be first to get him to the team.
Maybe other teams would offer Parise much money and that would be destroy Avs plans.

That trade would be amazing! it would put us $6 million closer to the cap floor and would go a long way in convicing the RFAs and possibly other FAs to sign 
I really hope this happens, but I think the Avs would have to add an elite prospect. Someone like Elliott, Hishon, or Gaunce should convice NJ its a good deal.

Hopefully this ends up being official and that te avs could go get his best friend ryan suter to the same rumoured extension all that while signing their own rfa's. this would put the avs cup contenders having 2 over the top acquisitions and having that same talented young core growing together. as for prise that good deal for his rights i would never add an elite prospect just for someones rights specially a week before ufa

Well now that the draft has come and gone and the Av's drafted Mitchell Heard in the 2nd round, the rumor isn't true. the deal stated that the Av's would send J.S. Giggy, Kobasew, this years 2nd round pick and next years 1st round pick to N.J. in return the Av's get Johan Hedburg and Zach Parise.
Too bad it was just a rumor and not actuality.
We'll just have to hope that Michael Sgarbossa (Sudberry Wolves of OHL) can step in just like Gabriel Landeskog did. If you dont who I'm talking about then do a little research. 66 games played 47 goals 55 assists 102 points 68 penalty minutes all that was good enough for him to win the Eddie Memorial Trophy (Top scorer in OHL) and the trophy was presented to him by Steven Stamkos of the T.B. Lighting
