Avalanche signs four playersZach Redmond, Jesse Winchester, Ben Street, Bruno Gervais all ink deals.

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed defenseman Zach Redmond and forward Jesse Winchester each to a two-year contract through the 2015-16 season. In addition, the club also announced the signings of forward Ben Street to a two-year contract and defenseman Bruno Gervais to a one-year deal.

Winchester, 30, tallied 18 points (9g/9a) in 52 games for the Florida Panthers this past season. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound center has appeared in 285 career NHL games between the Panthers and Ottawa Senators, recording 70 points (20g/50a). He has also seen action in 10 career playoff contests (0g/0a).

Originally signed by Ottawa as a non-drafted free agent on March 24, 2008, Winchester spent his first five NHL seasons with the Senators. Prior to signing with the Panthers last summer, the Long Sault, Ontario native spent the 2012-13 campaign in Finland. He played four seasons of college hockey at Colgate University from 2004-08.

Redmond, 25, appeared in 10 games for the Winnipeg Jets this past season, tallying three points (1g/2a). He spent most of the season with Winnipeg’s American Hockey League affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps, where he had 25 points (6g/19a) in 40 regular-season games and 14 points (2g/12a) in 21 playoff contests. The Traverse City, Mich., native was originally selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the seventh round (184th overall) of the 2008 Entry Draft. Redmond has seven points (2g/5a) in 18 career NHL games with the Jets.

Gervais, 29, spent this past season with Philadelphia’s AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, where he had 26 points (10g/16a) in 59 games. The Longueuil, Quebec native has appeared in 418 career NHL games, tallying 87 points (16g/71a) in stints with the New York Islanders (2005-11), Tampa Bay Lightning (2011-12) and Philadelphia Flyers (2012-13). Selected by the Islanders in the sixth round (182nd overall) of the 2003 Entry Draft, Gervais has also appeared in five career playoff games (1g/1a).

Street, 27, appeared in 13 games for the Calgary Flames this past season, recording one assist. He spent most of the year with Calgary’s AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat, where he recorded 60 points (28g/32a) in 58 games. The Coquitlam, B.C., native led the Heat in goals and finished second in points. Originally signed by Calgary as a free agent on July 2, 2012, Street has recorded two points (0g/2a) in 19 career NHL games.
