Eurolanche on Tour XV

Eurolanche on Tour XVJiří from the Czechia participated in Eurolanche on Tour for the second time. This is his recap of the longest trip in the history of the fan club to date.

ČESKÝ SUMÁŘ ZDE

Fans of the Colorado Avalanche hockey club once again set out from Central Europe on a hockey pilgrimage to follow their favorite team! This year's Eurolanche on Tour XV was the fifteenth trip from Europe to Colorado, and as always, it brought unforgettable experiences.

Between January 14 and February 2, 2025, we traveled around Denver and its surroundings, Boston, and New York to see the Colorado Avalanche in action with our own eyes and experience the American hockey atmosphere to the fullest.

Ten fans from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Slovenia took part in this year's expedition, including Eurolanche fan club president David Puchovský, who organized the trip perfectly. The program was packed not only with NHL games, but also visits to iconic places, museums, sports venues, sporting events, and traditional American restaurants.

Denver: Home of the Avalanche and Jokic's magic

Upon arrival in Colorado, we immediately immersed ourselves in the atmosphere of Denver, the capital of our Avalanche team. We visited Downtown, walked along 16th Street Mall, and tasted our first American specialties in local restaurants. The highlight came in the evening – the first Colorado Avalanche game! The atmosphere at Ball Arena was electric, and seeing the Avalanche on home ice was an unforgettable experience.

The very next day, we went on an excursion to the Wild West Museum, where we learned more about the history of the Wild West in Colorado. We also stopped at the legendary In-N-Out Burger, which delighted all fast food fans. In the afternoon, we headed to the Garden of the Gods, where we enjoyed beautiful views and natural beauty.

Denver wasn't just about hockey – we also got to see an NBA game between the Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers. The highlight of the evening was an incredible three-point shot across the entire court by Nikola Jokić, which sparked a storm of excitement throughout the arena! Seeing such a moment with my own eyes was a dream come true for every basketball fan.

In addition to sports, we also enjoyed an excursion to the Coors brewery in Denver, where we tasted various types of this American beer, as well as the closed Red Rocks Amphitheater, but still enjoyed the iconic view from a distance of the place where concerts of the world's most famous bands are held.

There are many interesting places around Denver that I recommend visiting: ADX Florence Prison, Estes Park, Loveland, Colorado Springs, but also Denver's outlets for some honest American shopping.

Boston: Hockey history and colonial landmarks

After a few days in Denver, we headed east to Boston, a city with a rich hockey and historical tradition. Boston is home to one of the oldest NHL teams, the Bruins, and also offers amazing sights from the American Revolution.

We didn't forget to walk the famous Freedom Trail, which took us to key sites such as Paul Revere House, Old South Meeting House, Chapel Burying Ground, Old State House, and USS Constitution. In the evening, we enjoyed the atmosphere in local restaurants, such as Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen, where the hamburger was flawless. A visit to the Union Oyster House, the oldest continuously operating tavern in the United States, dating back to 1826, was a pleasant cherry on top.

The next day, another great hockey experience awaited us – the Boston Bruins vs. Avalanche match. Spectators will surely remember that it was an important game for our team, which was trying to prove its strength on the road, unfortunately with an unsuccessful result.

New York: The Big Apple, MSG, and the emotional 9/11 memorial

From Boston, we moved on to the largest city in the US – New York City. The program was packed, but we were most looking forward to the hockey game at the legendary Madison Square Garden, where we saw the Avalanche take on the New York Rangers. The atmosphere at MSG is always electric, and we enjoyed the game to the fullest.

Of course, we didn't miss out on New York's tourist gems – Central Park, the Plaza Hotel, Times Square, Broadway Theatre, Brooklyn Bridge, and the Empire State Building. Everyone found something to enjoy in this city, whether it was sights, food, or iconic locations known from movies.

However, the most powerful moment of our stay in New York was visiting the 9/11 Memorial, which deeply affected us. Standing at the site of one of the greatest tragedies in American history was very emotional. Seeing the names of the victims engraved on metal plates, feeling the atmosphere of silence and remembrance—it was something that is difficult to describe in words.

Hockey statistics: How did the Avalanche perform?

During our stay, we saw a total of nine hockey games and one basketball game. Unfortunately, the Avalanche's record was negative – five losses and four wins.

Conclusion: Every Avalanche fan's dream come true

Eurolanche on Tour XV 2025 was once again an unforgettable journey full of hockey and travel experiences. We saw the Avalanche play at four different stadiums, got to know American culture, and strengthened the bonds of friendship between European fans of this great club.

We would like to thank all participants for the great atmosphere and look forward to more events like this! If you want to join future expeditions, follow Eurolanche.com and be there with us.

Go Avs!

Editor's note: After writing the recap, Jirka said that the program was so packed that he forgot some of the activities in his memories. Whether it was the game against the Islanders, the AHL game, or trips within Colorado to Wyoming, there was a lot going on. You can see everything for yourself in the trip's photo gallery.
